Of the ten Academy Award-nominated feature film scripts in the adapted and original screenplay categories, four were written by women: Jenkins, who also directed "The Savages," Nancy Oliver, for "Lars and the Real Girl," Diablo Cody for "Juno" and Sara Polley, who adapted and directed "Away from Her."

The 40% showing belies the fact that only about 10% of feature film scripts were penned by female scribes in 2007.

In the past 20 years, there were four times that there weren't any women writers nominated, and in nine separate years, only one female scribe got an Oscar nod in the screenwriting categories. Hence, the hoopla surrounding this year's nominees.

Here's a look at this year's Oscar-nominated women scribes.
