ShoWest style skirmish

Who won, who lost and who needed help.

What is 2007 ShoWest and why is everyone going on and on about it?

It's just the National Association of Theatre Owners' annual opportunity to spend a week in "what happens here, stays here" Las Vegas, party with the stars and moan and groan about everything that is wrong – and right – with the movie industry.

This week's topics: the DVD market, video pirates, unrated DVDs, movie downloads, the quality/quantity of Hollywood's offerings -- you name it.

But ShoWest is also a chance for exhibitors to rub elbows -- or various other upper body parts -- with honest-to-goodness movie stars who attend to push their new films and studio honchos who come salivating over getting more screens for their big blockbusters.

Most ShoWest attendees were thrilled about the '07 slate of film fare that includes potential box office record-breakers such as "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Spider-Man 3," "Shrek the Third" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

The star turnout was pretty impressive, too. But then it usually is. What better way to insure that stars will show than by handing out gold statues at the ShoWest Award Ceremony at Paris Hotel on the final night?

But enough of the Film Industry 101 lesson. Let's get down to the stuff that really matters: what those haute hotties like Kirsten Dunst, Michelle Pfeiffer, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Moore wore to various ShoWest events this week.

Take a look at ShoWest fashions.
