Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" and Steven Soderbergh's "Che" will serve as the Centerpiece Screening presentations at the AFI Los Angeles International Film Festival, which also marks both films' West Coast premieres.

"The Wrestler" tells the story of an ex-pro-wrestler's life in New Jersey, and stars Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. Director Aronofsky is best known for his earlier indies "Requiem for a Dream" and the festival darling "Pi." Rourke won the best actor award for "Wrestler" at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year; the film debuts at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Nov. 6.

"Che," also screening at the Chinese Theatre, stars Benicio del Toro as Ernesto "Che" Guevara. The film premiered this May at Cannes, where it was honored with an acting award for del Toro's turn as the South American revolutionary. Directed by Soderbergh, "Che" is scheduled to screen Nov. 1.

AFI Fest earlier announced that " The Soloist," starring Robery Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx, will open the event.
